In 2015, my husband and I had been married a few months when we enrolled in a marriage class. It had been recommended by a couple that had been married over 20 years at that time and they said it had been quite remarkable for them. This was enough motivation for me to be honest because if someone who had been married that long was benefitting from it, how much more we who had not even made it to 6 months.
We enrolled in the class and were grouped up with about 7 other couples. During one of the sessions, a lady shared how they had had some struggles in their marriage and even contemplated ending the marriage. However, after she observed other married friends of theirs who had ended their own marriages because of the issues they were going through she realized it was better for them to stick together than to go for a divorce. This is how they now enrolled in this marriage class and thankfully till today they are still together. What she said that day will stay with me forever, “we are better together than apart”.
If your marriage is going through some challenges, seek help. Do not be in a hurry to give up on it, try and fight for that marriage. Do not be quick to end it only to realize that you were better together when it is too late.
